Photogalvanic effect in two-dimensional topological insulator with tunneling contacts

We show theoretically that absorption of circularly polarized light leads to interband electrodipole transitions and results in edge electric current with direction being determined by light polarization. We consider applied tunneling contacts and show that in case of asymmetric illumination of contact domain spin-polarized current flows into contact and deduce the light intensity dependence of the current.
