Accuracy improvement of OFDM signal information symbols estimations at the Presence of narrowband interference

The efficiency comparison of two approaches to narrow-band interference suppression at OFDM reception signal was carried out. The first is based on a window function. As an example, the Nuttall window was implemented. In second approach optimal filter was synthesized. Minimization of the unconditional average dispersion of information symbols estimations was chosen as criterion of optimality. For both approaches, expressions for information symbols estimates dispersion were obtained that were used to evaluate the effectiveness of interference suppression. Results of comparison of the two approaches showed that the gain in accuracy estimates by using the optimum filter may be significant in comparison with the fixed window. Moreover, increasing the duration of the window beyond the duration of the OFDM symbol also increases the efficiency of the optimal filter. However, the optimum filter requires knowledge of the correlation function interference and significantly more difficult in practical implementation.
