For any intelligent robotic system, a sensory system is needed. The created sensors and systems reacting to external influences can be turned into industrial robots, from while acting purely mechanically to machines that are able to independently respond to environmental changes and make simple decisions. The most perfect system for equipping robots is a vision system that provides the image of a working scene, its transformation, analysis, processing using a microcomputer or a microprocessor, and transferring the measurement results to the robot control device.
The complexity of such systems can vary considerably depending on the environment. At this article, an example of developing a simple perceptual system suitable for a static camera located indoors. Her model was built in Matlab using the Computer Vision System package. This system can capture any visual events occurring in the field of view of the camera, while using a small amount of processing power. Therefore, Matlab is an acceptable way to implement this task and it can be used in more complex systems.
